National Cellar1573 Square is one of the oldest brewing bases of Luzhou Laojiao, which has a history of over 600 years since GUO Huaiyu in Yuan dynasty invented “Ganchun yeast”and brewed the first generation of strong aromatic yeast liquor. Therefore, National Cellar1573 Square is famous for the origin place of Chinese strong aromatic liquor.
QIN Hanzhang, a leading liquor authority once made inscription of “strong aroma origination” for Luzhou Laojiao. ZHOU Henggang, another leading authority also made inscription of “orthodox strong aroma”, which was engraved on a stone stele in the square. Luzhou Laojiao was evaluated as one of the four famous liquors in 1952 by the state, whose position of strong aroma originator has been widely admired.
National Cellar 1573 Square is the first “national industrial tourist demonstration site” of Chinese liquor industry.
There are many “unique” wonders in the demonstration site including the “living cultural relic”— 1573 national treasure cellars with a history of over 400 years, large-scale relief sculpture, cultural relic stele, Longquan well, Chuanshan building, the first liquor yard in the world and liquor culture museum, etc. Walking in those scenic spots and enjoying the prevailing liquor aroma, one can have a full feeling of the long history of Luzhou Laojiao as well as the splendid culture of famous liquor. It has constituted the most conspicuous scenery in Luzhou.
