Since late Ming and early Qing dynasty, distilleries such as “Tianchengsheng”,“Hongxinghe”,“Shunchangxiang”,“Shuxiangcun”,“Yongxingcheng”,“Dingfengheng”,“Daxinghe”,“Shengfarong”appeared in succession. In late Qing dynasty, there were 18 distilleries brewed and sold yeast liquor in Luzhou. It was recorded in Food Records ·



Liquor, the third volume of Records of Lu County: “Lu liquor, that brewed from sorghum is called Baishao, brew from sorghum and wheat named Daqu. There were over 600 Baishao shops in late Qing and sold the liquor to regions like Yongning and Qianbian; and over 10 Daqu shops, the older the cellar was, the clearer and more mellow the liquor was. The liquor of Wenyongsheng and Tianchengsheng enjoyed high reputation, which was sold to east and west Sichuan as well as other provinces…”
